2025 KTM 450 SMR – First Look

KTM unveiled a new 450 SMR, giving the supermoto updates introduced on the 2025 450 SX-F motocross bike, including changes to the frame, fork and ergonomics. U.S. pricing has not been released, but the 2025 KTM 450 SMR should arrive in North American dealerships in November.

The bodywork receives a small tweak, with new tank shrouds with bi-composite plastics on the upper and lower flanks designed to improve airflow. The footrests are also new, with a smaller design to increase lean angle and reduce the risk of them catching on curbs.

The 450 SMR receives a new 48mm WP XACT closed cartridge fork that adopts a mid-valve piston concept to optimize oil flow inside the cartridge while reducing oil foaming. The fork also features a new hydro stop at the last part of the stroke to help with the harder landings and bigger jumps.

The XACT rear shock is derived from KTM’s factory team, receiving new seals, a revised linkage, and smaller diameter linkage bolts.

The 450 SMR is powered by the same 450cc SOHC Single from 2024, claiming a peak output of 63 hp. For 2025, KTM updated the air intake with a stiffer one-piece inlet sleeve and snorkel design to prevent deformation. The SMR offers two engine maps: Map 1 with a linear power curve or Map 2 with a more aggressive throttle response. Other electronic aids include a traction control system and quickshifter, and launch control.

Braking duties are handled by a single four-piston radial-mount caliper and 310mm disc up front, and a single-piston caliper and 220mm disc at the rear, all supplied by Brembo.

Other features include race-ready Metzeler Racetec SM K1 Supermoto tires, Alpina rims with CNC-machined hubs (with a 16.5-inch front and 17-inch rear), easy-access airbox, and a claimed weight (without fuel) of 239.9 pounds.
