2024 LiveWire S2 Models Recalled for Issue with High Voltage Fuses
Del Mar and Mulholland to receive new fuses with higher amperage rating
It hasn’t been a good couple of weeks for Harley-Davidson, for a number of reasons, and the hits keep coming with a new recall for the 2024 LiveWire S2 Del Mar and Mulholland. Compared to a backlash against wokeness or moving of production overseas, this is a relatively mundane problem. It’s still not great, but a problem that is easier to correct.
The recall, the first for the Mulholland and the third for the Del Mar, is related to a high voltage fuse potentially opening, resulting in a sudden loss of propulsion. According to the recall documentation, the issue may occur during “repeated rapid acceleration events”. The recall affects 574 units of the Del Mar and 214 units of the Mulholland, for a total of 788 motorcycles. Of that population, 2%, or about 16 motorcycles may actually have the defect.
The issue was first reported on June 11, with an investigation beginning on the 25th. A review of warranty and field services identified two other cases that appeared to be related. After further analysis, LiveWire initiated the recall process on Aug. 5. No crashes or injuries related to the issue have been reported as of that date.
To correct the problem, LiveWire adopted a new high voltage fuse with a higher amperage rating. LiveWire dealers will install the new fuse on affected motorcycles. The new fuse will be installed on future S2 models when production begins on Sept. 11.
As mentioned earlier, this is the third recall for the S2 Del Mar. It was previously recalled in February to correct a software issue that may cause the engine to shut down (which we're pretty sure we experienced for ourselves), and again in March because some axle or shock nuts may be loose. The S2 Mulholland was not affected by either of those previous recalls.

Fuses are there to protect the controller/motor....will we now see a glut of blown controllers?
So now that there is a "a new high voltage fuse with a higher amperage rating" will the rest of the bike burn down from the high voltage and high amperage after repeated rapid accelerations?😏
