Kawasaki revealed a new cruiser model equipped with the 649cc parallel-Twin engine from the Ninja 650. The result is an entry-level cruiser with sportbike-derived power retailing for $6999 ($7399 with ABS).

The second annual AIMExpo is here, and Motorcycle.com is live in Orlando to bring you the latest news from America’s newest motorcycle show. The 2014 AIMExpo kicks off with two full media days Oct. 16-17 before opening its doors to the public Oct. 18-19.

Everybody loved the little Versys 650; Kawasaki hopes they’ll love the new Versys 1000 LT that much more. Initial impressions are that we probably will.

Kawasaki’s Versys 650 is one of motorcycledom’s great unsung heroes, delivering incredible versatility at a reasonable price. But, let’s be honest, its homely appearance may have handicapped its sales success in spite of its all-around excellence.

Last week’s Church of MO feature brought you the Suzuki GSR 600, a naked middleweight, the likes of which are re-gaining popularity within the past few years. As we saw last week, and will see again this week with our look back at the 2002 Kawasaki ZR-7s, the naked middleweight class is a very favorable class of motorcycle. Graced with moderate power, upright ergos, and practicality beyond what any sportbike can offer, it’s no wonder why the class is seeing a reemergence as of late. Since he started racing in the late 1990s, San Diego, California racer Jeremy Toye has lived a storied career. His extensive domestic resume includes several top-five finishes in AMA Pro Racing competition. In 2006, Toye set the fastest lap for a rookie at the Isle of Man. On his sixth trip to compete at the Macau Grand Prix, Toye’s third place finish in 2010 earned him the distinction of being the first American to podium the event in 10 years. The following rain-hampered year, he fell just short of the podium. Although he’s raced several motorcycle brands, the last couple of years have seen him focus on Kawasaki’s ZX–10R.

It’s easy for us to get carried away in the spirit of the MOment, no matter what kind of motorcycles we’re testing here at the MO. Manufacturers are constantly showering us with the latest greatest machines: $30,000 six-cylinder sport tourers? We love them. $15,000 retro nakeds? Fantastic! Cruisers? Fresh surprises every year, including the new Indian Scout.

In my role as a moto-journo, I’ve been extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to ride all the latest and greatest motorcycles from around the world. It’s a great gig if you can get it, but there’s one tiny caveat: there are plenty of bikes not sold to us Yanks in the U.S. of A. The manufacturers have a number of reasons why they don’t sell certain bikes here, but the end result is, despite the unique position I’m in to ride a variety of motorcycles, there are still some bikes I long to throw a leg over. All because I live in America.

Along with the updated Kawasaki Versys 650 comes a similar update for its larger sibling, the Versys 1000. First introduced in 2012, the original Versys 1000 never made it to the U.S.,  but Kawasaki USA confirmed this afternoon that both Verses will be sold in North America. Full details will be revealed at the AIMExpo in Orlando, Florida, October 16-19, where the bikes will be on display.

Dirty Sean’s favorite motorcycle of them all was introduced to Europe in 2007 and made its way to the U.S. in 2008 by popular demand. It was upgraded in 2010, and now the Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS gets a major makeover.  Pricing and full details will be released at the AIMExpo in Orlando, Florida,  in mid-October, where the new Versys and  its big bro Versys 1000 will be on display.

The dance of the Seven Videos (okay, nine) is over at last, as Kawasaki releases its jaw-dropping new H2R.

The fall motorcycle season kicks off in Cologne, Germany, with the 50th edition of the Intermot show. The biennial showcase rivals EICMA as one of the biggest motorcycle shows in the world with more than 200,000 visitors expected. Several major manufacturers will be revealing new 2015 models at Cologne. BMW has already confirmed it will reveal three models including an updated S1000RR for its home motorcycle show, while its Austrian neighbor KTM has also announced it will present its 1290 Super Adventure. Ducati‘s lengthy teaser campaign for the Scrambler will finally come to a head at Intermot, while Kawasaki’s supercharged Ninja H2 is already an early favorite to be the biggest news of the show. Other brands such as Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Yamaha have already released information on their new Intermot show models, but we wouldn’t be shocked if they have a few surprises in store as well. There’s been a lot of buzz about Kawasaki’s relentlessly teased H2 sportbike, but information with any details is thus far practically non-existent. The only things certain are that it will be powered by a supercharged inline-Four engine and packaged in a fully faired sportbike platform.

Kawasaki is building hype around its new, and potentially groundbreaking, Ninja H2 sportbike with a series of short videos. Each one highlights a certain aspect about the bike, and last week’s third teaser video was an audible delight, as we got to hear the supercharger discharge get expelled every time the throttle was closed.

Today, Kawasaki released the second in its series of teaser videos for the much anticipated Ninja H2. Not much is revealed visually in the teaser video, but the audible notes tell a completely different story. The video starts off with a run through the gears and in it we hear the clear sound of the centrifugal supercharger’s wastegate as it regulates intake pressure.
