These days the Triumph Speed Triple is considered relatively tame compared to the class of big displacement naked bikes, but one could argue the class wouldn't exist if it weren't for the Speed Triple. Originally introduced in 1994, this 1996 version, as found on our sister site TheSpeedTriple.com, is a rolling piece of history. And now it can be yours for $4000. Judging by the pics and the seller's description, it looks to be in fairly good shape for a 27-year-old bike, though the seller states the fork seals and tires are likey due for replacing soon. If a Speed Triple is good, then a Speed Four must be better. Right?

Ch-ch-ch-changes, my brethren. 2009 was only one decade ago, but so much has changed. Now the Tuono has four pistons instead of two, Buell has left the building – and so have Duke Danger, Pete, Fonzie, and the antipathy toward naked bikes the lads lamented at the time. Now that it’s 2019, let us embrace our naked ambition, throw off whatever pretensions toward fairness we once thought we had, and prey (upon the weak). Amen.

Okay, I admit it. I’m a wheelie-holic. I’d practice wheelies on my bicycle, but I’ve been absolutely addicted to them since discovering an engine’s anti-gravity effects on a dirt bike’s front tire when I was 12 and abusing my amazingly durable Suzuki DS80 on the Canadian prairie.

Maybe it’s a sign of my, ahem, maturity, but as much as I love riding sportbikes, quite frankly they’re a chore to ride during the daily grind. The low bar, high peg, racer crouch is great on a racetrack, but impractical for the street. Plus, they’re not great at carrying things, either. I’m not saying I don’t like riding sporty bikes on the street, but these days I want my sport with a bit of practical and comfortable, too. That’s why I gravitate towards standard/naked bikes. With similar power to supersports, only marginally less performance, and an upright seating position, these really are sportbikes for the road.

Motorcycle insurance is a slippery subject. With so many options for coverage, it’s hard to keep track of every kind of policy. However, if you live in the States you gotta have at least bodily injury and property damage liability coverage before legally operating your motorcycle. But getting insurance doesn’t have to break the bank.
